The sister brand of Francisco Cumellas, Barcelona Rugs, was founded in 2014.
Xavier Papiol, at the forefront of this project, is the third generation of a long family tradition in the world of carpets that began in 1959. This experience leads the company to focus on the design of its own collections, the commitment to craft-making – and all that this entails in terms of sustainability and concern for the environment and society – international expansion and innovation in design, materials and techniques.

Barcelona Rugs represents the elegant and modernist personality of the city, drawing inspiration from some of Barcelona’s most iconic symbols such as the design of the pavements of the main streets and the interiors of the stately homes of the city.
Our design team creates all the collections and delivers custom designs for projects, as well. We also collaborate with internationally recognized designers.
All our collections reflect the unique essence of each designer, and are further distinguished by our excellent artisanal craftsmanship, making each piece truly unique.
Every rug we create is a unique piece of art. We seek to achieve perfect harmony between design, quality and the final product in all our rugs.

Alongside our team of artisanal rug-makers, which we carry out in the north of Nepal and India, we are involved in the social and economic sustainability of their communities in a proactive way. The sustainability of these communities and the ability to provide jobs is a key pillar for us.
The Barcelona Rugs team comprises a global group of professionals: from the people who weave the carpets, to the agents that market them, including the designers, quality controllers and all the rest involved from the original concept to the finished rug.
We have incorporated designers and other professionals into the team, allowing us to launch new collections adapted to national and international markets, responding to the needs of both individuals and interior professionals, architects and, in short, being in a constant process of innovation and experimentation.
